Yo kids! It’s your football buddy Spike. I just got back from playin some flag football with my friends. We were just playin’ for fun so nobody knows what the score was, but durin’ most football games they keep score.
There are a few ways to score points in football and I wanna go over how those points can be earned durin’ a game. Ya ready? Let’s do it!
The way to score the most points on one play in football is to score a “touchdown.” A touchdown is scored when one team’s player crosses the other team’s goal line with the football. A touchdown is worth 6 points.
After a touchdown, the scoring team can either kick an “extra point” or try for a “two point conversion.” An extra point is when a team’s kicker kicks the football through the other team’s goal posts on the field from a very short distance. An extra point is worth 1 point.
A two point conversion is when the team that just scored a touchdown runs a play from a very short distance from the other team’s goal line. If they cross the goal line with the football they receive 2 points.
Another way to score is if the team that has the ball kicks a “field goal.” A field goal is when a team’s kicker kicks the football through the other team’s goal posts from a variety of distances on the field. A field goal is worth 3 points.
The final way to score points in football is called a “safety.” A safety is ruled when one team tackles a member of the other team behind their own goal line while they have the ball. A safety is worth 2 points.
Now that you know the different ways to score in football get outside, get a lil’ dirty and play some football!
